Catholic Daughters of the Americas and St. Wenceslaus Altar and Rosary Sewers

Once a month, the members of the St. Wenceslaus Altar and Rosary Society and the Iowa City Catholic Daughters of the Americas come together for a sewing/weaving workshop. Both groups of women partner to use their sewing talents to sew diapers, baby wash cloths, dresses, shorts, drawstring backpacks, sanitary pads, and weave plastic-bag sleeping mats.

All, regardless of sewing experience, are welcome to attend the monthly workshop on the second Tuesday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the parish hall. If desired, you may sew at home and bring your completed items to the workshop. Fabric, thread, etc., and other sewing supplies are available for participants.

Throughout the year, donations are made to Orphan Grain Train and the Samaritan’s Purse projects.

In 2026, donated items made by our sewing group included diapers, baby washcloths, drawstring backpacks, school supplies, sanitary pads, sleeping mats, small quilts, and second-hand items.
