Welcome to Confirmation preparation at St. Wenceslaus. Registration is now open for the 2027 class here and is open to students in 8th- 10th Grade.
What to Expect:
Classes meet three times per month, beginning in late summer or early fall. The program includes 13-14 sessions, with scheduled breaks around the holidays. A retreat is held one to two weeks before the Confirmation ceremony to help candidates prepare spiritually for the sacrament.
The exact Confirmation date is set by the Diocese of Davenport. The class start date and full schedule will be shared with registered families before the program begins. Classes are free of charge.
How it Works:
- Step 1: Complete the registration form: link is here. We'll be in touch with the full schedule and next steps.
- Step 2: Submit Sacramental records and Sponsor Information. Candidates must provide a copy of their baptism certificate. The parish office may already have yours on file. If your child was baptized at another parish, you will need to request a copy from that parish and have it sent to St. Wenceslaus at 623 Fairchild Street, Iowa City, IA 52245. Sponsor information should also be submitted at this time.
- Step 3: Submit your Confirmation Name. Each candidate will choose a Confirmation saint and submit their patron's name before classes conclude.
- Step 4: Near the end of the program, each candidate writes a personal letter to the pastor requesting the Sacrament of Confirmation.
