Preparing for the Sacrament of Baptism

By baptizing the newborns, they "have become our new brothers and sisters in the faith. How beautiful it is to celebrate the love of God -- who calls us by name and frees us from evil -- as one family!" Pope Leo XIV

Baptism is the door through which your child enters into the life of the Church — claimed by God, incorporated into the Body of Christ, and sealed forever as a beloved child of the Father. It is a moment of profound grace, and we are honored to celebrate it with your family.

The following steps will guide your preparation. We are here to approach each step with you toward this sacred day.

Registration
We ask that parents be registered, active members of St. Wenceslaus. Baptism is most fully celebrated within a community of faith — one that will continue to surround your child with prayer and accompaniment for years to come.

Baptismal Form and Birth Certificate
Please complete a Baptismal form for your child and provide a copy of their birth certificate.

Godparents
Godparents bear a genuine spiritual responsibility. They should be Catholics in good standing, prepared to accompany your child in faith. We ask that they obtain their sacramental records from their parish of Baptism and have them sent to St. Wenceslaus.

Baptism Preparation
Parents and godparents are invited to attend a Baptism Preparation Class before the sacrament. This is not only a time to prepare for your child's Baptism — it is an invitation for you as well. The same God who is calling your child by name is calling you, too, into a deeper life of faith. We hope this time of preparation will be a moment of renewal and joy for your whole family. Our office will assist you in scheduling a convenient time.
