Each year, the Knights of Columbus Council and the Culture of Life team at St. Wenceslaus host the Culture of Life Dinner. This dinner promotes current and future Pro-Life healthcare providers in Iowa City and surrounding communities through the Saint Paul VI Institute Education Grant.

About the Creighton Model

The Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System is a highly effective family planning method that enables couples to chart signs and symptoms of fertility. This gives the couple the ability to select or avoid days of fertility to achieve or postpone a pregnancy as determined by the couple's needs. The Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System eliminates the potential harmful side effects of chemicals and devices by avoiding artificial means of contraception. Additionally, this method often helps facilitate deeper communication and intimacy of the couple.

The significant advantage of this method among other natural methods of fertility monitoring is the Creighton Model's standardized language and instruction that allows focused medical interventions, by a Medical Consultant trained in NaPro Technology, to diagnose and treat a range of gynecologic disorders and infertility issues. Training programs in the delivery of the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System, accredited by the American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals, are available in several locations throughout the world.

Fertility Care Practitioner Training

The Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System (CrMS) is provided by FertilityCare™ Practitioners (FCP) who are trained in a 13-month Allied Health Education Program. This is the most advanced educational program available in this field. After graduating from this program, practitioners can become certified through the American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals, the national certifying body. These teachers are highly trained to assist couples in all aspects of fertility care and are trained to work with Medical Consultants trained in NaPro TECHNOLOGY to give the best care available.

Cycle Show Education Grant

St. Wenceslaus Knights of Columbus are excited to introduce our newest Education Grant to support parishes and organizations desiring to bring the Cycle Show to their community.

If you live in the Diocese of Davenport and desire to bring the Guiding Star Cycle Show workshop to your community, church, school, or organization, please submit this grant application for consideration of this $1,000 grant, or call the KC Grant Coordinator, David Fetzer at 319-400-5695 for more information and how to bring the Cycle Show to your community.

What is the Cycle Show Workshop?

The Cycle Show Workshop is an educational, interactive, multi-media, fertility awareness workshop for young girls, ages 9 to 12. It is a desirable addition to the standard reproductive health education given in schools; its aim is to equip young girls with the knowledge of what is going on inside their bodies in relation to puberty. This knowledge then supports and prepares them in a positive way for the wonderful changes they will experience within their bodies over the coming years.

Like a theater audience staring at red curtains that frame an empty dark stage waiting for something to happen, many women in our society do the same for their menstrual period. They are completely unaware of what actually takes place in their bodies leading up to menstruation. We explain these events in an impressive behind the scenes show.

Today, it is more important than ever for young girls to have high self-esteem regarding their bodies, not just when they are in the middle of puberty, but well before the onset. The beginning of sexual maturation is the ideal time for girls to learn about and appreciate all the amazing changes that are taking place within their bodies. Participation in the Cycle Show gives girls a healthy respect for their bodies and helps to protect them as they move into their teenage years.
