Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

St. Wenceslaus is blessed to offer the opportunity for our youngest church members to grow in their faith by participating in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a unique religious experience for children 3-6 years old. It focuses on the special relationship that these young ones have with God. The experience is based on Maria Montessori’s vision of the human being. Children come to a prepared environment called the Atrium-- a place of prayer and where the only teacher is Christ. The themes in the Atrium are taken from the Bible and liturgy and also focus on preparing the child for life in the Church. The children develop a deeper sense of the mysteries of God.

This program meets once a week from September through the beginning of May.  For the 2019-2020 school year, we will offer three class times for children to come to the Atrium: Wednesday evenings from 5:45-7:15 p.m., Thursday mornings from 8:30-10:00 a.m., or Thursday mornings from 10:15-11:30 a.m.  Registration for St. Wenceslaus parishioners is now open.  Registration for non-parishioners will begin July 15.  To register online, please click here!

American Heritage Girls Troop IA0928

American Heritage Girls is a Christian girls' organization dedicated to building women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country.  By participating in this multi-level badge program, girls learn important life skills (from cooking to photography to paddling a canoe), have service and leadership opportunities, socialize with girls of all ages, and take time for spiritual development.

Our troop, Troop IA0928, was chartered in 2017 and is uniquely Catholic!  We have troop-wide meetings twice a month and girls ages 5-18 are welcome to join.  Some fun and service-oriented projects our troop has completed include:

-Making a rosary hike at Kent Park
-Giving away plastic army men after Masses to remind people to pray for our troops
-Sending Christmas cards to soldiers overseas
-Organizing and hosting a parish-wide mother/daughter tea

For more information about the troop, please contact our troop coordinator, Keary Onken, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  We're excited for you to join us here at St. Wenceslaus!
